Hermes Agent v0.21.4 adds a gateway lock, streamed CLI output, and desktop plugin management

Nous Research shipped Hermes Agent v0.21.4 on September 21, 2026, the latest patch in its ongoing v0.21 line. It adds a lock so only one gateway process runs on a machine at a time, a new `--format stream-json` option for scripting the command line, and lets the desktop app manage plugins and pick fonts from its Plugins hub. The release also adds several new community plugins, including Tailscale, SSH, and RSS, and fixes bugs across profiles, cron jobs, and the local state database.

Why it matters

Most users won't need to do anything. If you script Hermes Agent from the command line or manage plugins through the desktop app, this update gives you more control over both.
