Claude Opus 5.5 lands in Cowork, cheaper and faster than before

Your move: Same setup, lower cost and quicker results if your plan uses it

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 on September 22, 2026, and it is already available inside Claude Cowork. It costs 40% less to run than the previous Opus model and produces results more than 30% faster. Anthropic says it is especially strong at agentic coding, knowledge work, and computer use tasks, the same kind of work Cowork hands off to Claude.

Why it matters

If Cowork is running tasks for you in the background, this newer model should get them done faster and for less money, with nothing you need to change. It's worth checking your account is actually using Opus 5.5 if your plan lets you pick a specific model.
