Persona raises $10 million while its iMessage assistant runs in free beta

Your move: The assistant beta is live; the optional band is expected in December

TechCrunch reported on October 8, 2026 that Cal AI co-founder Zach Yadegari's new startup, Persona, raised $10 million in a round led by Vine Ventures. Persona already has a free iMessage assistant beta, with a few thousand users according to Yadegari. Its website describes an agent that makes calls, books appointments, cancels subscriptions, and returns confirmations. The company also takes preorders for an optional $179 wearable band, which TechCrunch says is expected in December. October 8 is the date of the funding report, not the assistant's original launch: Yadegari introduced Persona in September.

Why it matters

The band is not needed to try the assistant: Persona's site offers an iMessage starting point now. This is funding and beta news for an existing personal agent, not a shipped-hardware announcement. The December delivery date is a plan, and the beta-user count is the founder's claim, not an independently measured adoption figure.
