Dots adds mobile setup and Codex delegation

Your move: Eligible Dots users can set up an agent on mobile and delegate Codex work

ChatGPT's October 5-9 Dots update says users can now create a dot in the mobile app, give it a name, customize its appearance, and connect plugins from their phone. An October 9 announcement on the OpenAI community forum specifies iOS and Android. Dots can also start work in Codex and follow up on existing threads, using context from ChatGPT conversations, Codex threads, and automations. They can review and edit ChatGPT Work automations, too.

Why it matters

Mobile setup removes the need to create a dot on desktop or web first. Codex delegation lets the same agent start or continue coding work alongside its other tasks. This is an update for eligible Dots users, not a rollout to every ChatGPT mobile user; access remains staged. The October 9 announcement describes the mobile and Codex changes together.
