Type: Computer-Use Agent
Perplexity Computer now runs fully on-device on Apple silicon Macs
Your move: Model, harness and task execution all run on the Mac; works across local files and Mac apps; 36 GB+ memory recommended
Perplexity Computer can now run entirely on a Mac: the model (Qwen 3.6 or PPLX Pro, a post-trained Qwen), the agent harness and task execution all stay on-device on Apple silicon. With permission it works across local files and native apps like Notes, Messages, Mail and Numbers; code and tool execution run in isolated sandboxes, and cloud escalation for current information, browser use or connected apps is opt-in. Available now to Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers; 36 GB or more of unified memory recommended, with Hybrid Compute as the lighter option at 32 GB.
Why it matters
Fully local execution is the privacy endgame for personal agents: sensitive work never leaves the machine and local runs burn no credits. The hardware bar (36 GB+, Apple silicon, paid tier) keeps it niche today, but it sets the template other personal agents get measured against.
