Anthropic opens Claude Duet, a proactive agent that keeps working while you step away

Your move: US Pro and Max waitlisted preview; background checks and tasks share your Claude usage limits

Anthropic's Claude Duet sends morning briefs, checks connected apps every few hours and handles tasks on its own remote computer and browser. Built around Opus 5.5, it carries over Claude memory, skills and connections, and works through one ongoing thread on iOS, Android and claude.ai. It can prepare forecasts, build web apps and handle admin, but shows messages, payments, signatures and deletions for approval first.

Why it matters

Anthropic is moving from answering prompts to spotting work before you ask. The catch: this is a US Pro/Max waitlisted preview, background activity consumes shared usage limits, personal errands are weaker and you cannot yet see its browser. Useful promise, still an early trust test.
