Meta previews a talking, face-to-face avatar for Muse

Your move: Not live yet; also coming to Meta's smart glasses

At its Connect 2026 event, Meta announced Muse Realtime Avatar, a feature that gives Muse an animated face for real-time video conversations instead of just voice or text. Muse first generates its spoken reply, then generates matching facial expressions and lip movement to go with it. Meta says the avatar starts responding about 870 milliseconds after a user finishes speaking. Muse is also coming to Meta's smart glasses, so users will be able to talk to it just by speaking to their glasses. Neither feature is live yet.

Why it matters

Worth watching if you use Muse or wear Meta's smart glasses, since talking face-to-face with an avatar is a bigger shift than typing or speaking to a voice assistant. There's nothing to do yet, since these features haven't shipped.
