Town launches out of beta with a $55M Series A
Town came out of beta on June 3, 2026, with a $55 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), joined by Forerunner Ventures, First Round, Alt Capital, and Conviction. Town is a personal AI assistant, called a Townie, that connects to your email, calendar, Slack, docs, and WhatsApp, learns how you work, and starts proactively helping with tasks like scheduling, follow-ups, and admin work. It was founded by Jean-Denis Grèze, former CTO of Plaid, and Tony Vincent, former director of applied AI at Google.
Why it matters
This puts Town in the same category as Poke, Instinct, Catch, and Pally: a proactive personal AI assistant that works across the tools you already use instead of a dedicated app alone. The $55 million raise is large for this category, so it's worth knowing about as a well-capitalized competitor, but this is a funding and launch announcement, not a feature you need to act on.
